The Wines

Syrah (2000, 2003, 2010, 2015, all massale) from 4 hectares of four plots on clay-limestone soils (similar to Les Chassis at Crozes-Hermitage) at Châteauneuf-sur-Isère, 30 day vinification “to achieve a supple wine”, cap punching or pumping overs, concrete vat raised 6-7 months, unfined, filtered, biodynamic wine, 8,000-20,000 b

2019

(vat, bottling Apr/May 2020) shiny, dark red; the nose is vibrant, out and up, cassis fruit to the fore, real rock n’roll here. The palate gives joli fruit, is on the go, with licorice, dark berries, supple tannins. This is w.o.w. wine par excellence. It ends nice and surely, too. Hail hit on 15 June, so only 8,000 bottles, instead of 20,000 this year. Given that setback, the quality is very high. €14 at the cellars, €7.50 export. To 2022 Feb 2020

2007 ()

purple, violet top on the robe; black berry fruit, pepper along with a floral air – the bouquet is also reductive, hence a gummy note as well. Notably peppered red fruit on the palate. Has some late chewiness, comes with a line of tannin up and down it. Lacks focus, a bit uneven. 2010-11. €5 at the domaine. Dec 2008
