2018 ()

(casks) dark robe; the nose combines sweet oak with ripe black fruit, black raisin, date, so is a weighty opening. The fruit is soaked, macerated in style. The palate commences with black cherry flavours, holds polished tannins, drives along with sound movement, just avoids the trap of excess, static matter. The finish is lip smacking, oak present, the juice liberal. Decant it. From 2022-23. 2032-34 Nov 2019

(casks) very full robe, deep heart. The nose is reserved but promising, shows black olives, fine black berry fruit, oak in the background; it’s not releasing a lot for now. The palate works well on a smooth, lissom texture, produces live black fruit towards the finish, fruit with go in it. The finish is savoury, oak on the trail after that. It’s been rather worked on, and the oak needs to lessen. From 2021. 2037-38 Dec 2018

(casks) dark red. The nose is potentially stylish, via a calm air of black berries, cassis fruits that come with a neat clarity. The palate links well to the nose, bears lissom, free black-fruited content, all in harmony. There is a sub-plot of oak along the palate, which will gently infuse. It’s an understated, good pedigree Crozes-Hermitage, for veal, magret de canard or duck breast, for example. 13°. From mid-2018. 2023-24 Nov 2017

(casks) the nose has a springy quality, prominent oaking along with a concentrated black cherry, cassis fruit aroma that has cut. The palate mingles the oak and the cherry fruit, has a streamlined run of content with the length fresh, quietly extended. This is still deep in the cellar, so leave until late 2018, with oak needing to blend in. The quality of the fruit is good, pretty pure. There is a lip smacking, cool aftertaste. It’s a well structured Crozes for the longer term. 13.5°. 2027-28 Oct 2016
