2018 ()

dark plum colour; the palate has a ripe, round aroma of red stone fruits, fruit gums, with a little oaking, a toffee note sweetness, from that and the high sun of the summer. The palate is hearty, well fuelled with quite stylish content, presents a clean, rolling, modern face of Gigondas, a lower lying vineyard suggested over a higher, more limestone one. It’s a tad mainstream, but the length is sound. It can fuse its robust finish with more time. 14.5°. 12,000 b. 75% Gren, 25% Syr. €19 at cellars. From 2022. 2037-39 Feb 2020


(vat/casks) shiny, full red robe. The nose has a thick aroma of raspberry fruit, carries a creamy sweetness. The palate holds some stylish red-fruited content, with ripe tannins entered within, finishing roundly. There’s a little welcome spark in it that keeps it mobile. The aftertaste has an ash tang, a floating clarity which works well. From late-2020. 2036-38 Oct 2018


(bottling this week) shiny, handsome dark red robe. Black cherry mixes with a note of dark chocolate and black olives on the nose, has a kind inner sweetness. The palate bounces out of the starting gate with a free offer of black cherry, cassis fruit, with notes of black olives. It’s very smoothly textured, and ends on notes of smoky bacon, licorice. The finish is on light grain tannins that fit in well. This is modern, “fast forward”, bouncy Gigondas that will please thanks to its well-cut fruit and texture, with accompanying freshness and purity. From late 2018. 2031-33 Oct 2017
