80% Grenache (1910s, mid-1980s), 20% Syrah (mid-late 1970s) from La Ponche (deep alluvial soils) & Les Aubes (sand), hand harvested, destemmed (until early 2010s was whole bunch fermentation), 3 week vinification, pumping overs, aged 2-3-4 year 228-litre oak casks 12 months, unfiltered, organic wine, 6,600-12,000 b

2016 ()

dark red. The nose has an air of iodine, with squeezy black fruits attached; the fruit has some ease, charm. The palate is a typical Vacqueyras, based on lithe, peppered content, the tannins needing to soften. There are moments of fluid, raspberry flavoured gras along its path.  It can draw itself together over time, expand its mid-late palate, and should be left until late 2019. 14.5°. 2027-29 Mar 2018

2015 ()

red robe, legs visible. Meaty, reductive aroma, accompanied by quite rich, stewed fruits, plums and a soft perfume. The palate is immediately rich, nicely fluid, elegant, is smoothly fruited. This drinks well, good with lamb. It has a tidy, rounded end, pepper there, The style is one of restraint. 14.5°. 2025-27 Oct 2017

2014 ()

(casks) shiny red robe. The bouquet is led by an underlying sweetness in its prune and cherry fruit, a murmur of damp soil, forest floor after rain. The palate is streamlined, and comes across as rather streaky for now: it has a made in the cellar feel, is arm’s length, and will benefit from being put aside until late 2017. The acidity doesn’t quite fit in, leaves the front of the mouth dry. €14. 12,000 b. 2022-23  Dec 2015 


(bottling April 2013) three-quarter red. The nose has a bonny red fruit air – it is open and comes with laurel, thyme, garrigue notes – this is a very authentic, STGT bouquet. The palate is quite well weighted, offers elegance over power. There is a slow build-up towards the finish. This has good sinew, fine fruit. It is just OK on its degree – 15°. 2010 ()

bottled one month ago: good red robe. Attractive, profound nose of some mystery; there is a rather hidden air of stylish red fruit, surrounded by dust and black raisin. The palate has a tight debut, holds clear red fruit, subsequent pepper and spice. It will be varied around 2015, so take your time. It moves into cool late moments, and a good, pebbly intensity on the finish. Set to be interesting. 15°. 2020-21  Dec 2012


bright, rather dark robe. Tarry, humming nose that has a throb of heat off the plains, herbal and licorice implants that are good and local. There is nice freedom in the attack, and the wine runs along well – this has dash, élan. It ends on a pebbly freshness. Good life in this, the fruit is clear-cut. The tannins need 18 to 24 months. I like its vigour. 2023-24 March 2011
