2016 ()

(barrel) nice, quite full red. The nose is broad, comes with some animal, meat in its depth, raspberry, black olives, rosemary. There’s good early richness on the palate, well in-built tannins; it goes long with a sure hand. Red cherry-raspberry fruits swirl well, and the raspberry comes through on the aftertaste. Vigour and good control are present here. The juice is good and thick, persistent. From 2020-21. 2041-43 Oct 2017

2015 ()

(vat, bottling soon) clear red. Raspberry fruit, some essence in its depth, mulberry, shows along with reduction-animal on the bouquet; there’s a low-key concentration of red fruits. The palate has a similar, very Grenache, compact nature, builds well into a flourishing close, sealed and tight – it carries well there, and the finish is rather complex, has varied and subtle prompts. Raspberry fruit features on the aftertaste, with a discreet thickness. 80% Gren, 10% Syr, 10% Mourv. From 2021. 2036-39 Oct 2017

Bottle 1: red robe. Smoky bacon, black raisin airs feature in a direct bouquet, just a bit of TCA cork taint. Bottle 2: black raisin, a note of pine, garrigue herbs, aniseed and licorice show on the nose – there are varied stimuli here. It’s broad, carries potential. The attack is close-knit, with notably intense juice released only cautiously. It grips tightly on the finish, which is solid, compact. This is broad, meaty wine. Leave until mid-2018, and decant it. 14.5°. 2031-33 Nov 2016 GB £228 12 b in bond H2Vin www.h2vin.co.uk info@h2vin.co.uk +44(0)203 478 7376  Previously Dec 2015 ****(*) (barrel) shiny full red robe, legs visible. The bouquet is inky and deep, gives a prolonged aroma of black stone fruit, which is good and intense. This a proper deep nose. The palate runs with expressive flavour, its content silken and pure, extends with a sure, polished hand. The tannins are well presented, with enough crunch to keep the wine in shape as it finishes. This is a leading 2014 Gigondas. The late glow that comes from within is authentic. 14.5°. 15,000 b. €29. From 2019. 2030-32  Dec 2015
