(terracotta jar) dark red. A sweet depth of blackberry fruit shows on the nose, lozenge-pastille gourmandise; it’s “shiny” and juvenile. The palate bears serene red fruits, lissom content, has the silk of Châteauneuf. It brings in a dark berry fruit, with prune depth, insistence towards its firm end. This is a solid, grippy, slow burn wine that has fresh sides, a real strike from them. There is authority and insistence in the glass. The finish is knuckled, on its tannins. Decanting advised. From 2022 at least. 2044-45 Oct 2017

red robe. Lots of pepper drives out of the bouquet, with carnation, floral touches, a raisin, cooked fig fruit presence. The palate is on the New Wave, pared back trail, and is stretched on the late stages, the aftertaste on excess degree for its tight content, as well as demanding tannins. The solution is to wait, then wait again, with possible expansion on the agenda. It’s at a stubborn stage now, for sure. There is compressed red fruit juice within, here and there. I am surprised by its evolution, though the purity in the fruit is still here. 14.5°. 2033-35 Mar 2018 Previously Sept 2016 (barrel) **** bright red robe. The nose is sun-filled, bears a rounded aroma of red fruits, red jam, has real curviness, just a little implicit power. The palate rolls with pure red berry fruit, raspberry and a note of redcurrant, extends with a sure hand. This will be an orb-like, reassuring wine in the glass, a serenade of the south. The tannins are a close, glove-like fit. The stylish gras continues well. From mid-2019, decant it. 2032-34 Sept 2016

red robe, a little lighter at the top. The bouquet is elegant, has a charming, nicely deep air of red cherry fruit, a touch of smoky darkness and meat stock. The palate unfurls a most pleasing roll of red fruits, with detail and purity in their expression. It’s broad and sustained, with an increase in depth and low-key vigour before the finish, some meat, blood and iron notes. There’s lot to take in here. The tannins add their layer of content to the late stages. From spring 2019. 2032-34 Mar 2018 Previously Nov 2016 ****(*) mild red robe, indicating 100% Grenache. There is a stylish Grenache aroma here, a classic nose of the finesse of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It has a little dark edging, a hint of black raisin. The palate is unfused with pepper, red fruits such as raspberry with a simmered style to the fruit. There is a thrust of late tannin and menthol. This possesses naked, clear qualities, and is an STGT, not overdone wine. It has flair, and a good flourish potentially.
