2019 ()

(vat/casks) dark red; the nose has a mild plum aroma, carries sweetness, is a regular do. The palate is medium weight, more on succulence than direct shaping, with a puddingy middle, the finish rounded, rather indistinct. It’s a workmanlike Châteauneuf, has a plum flavour with outcrops of vegetal into the finish. From 2022. 2029-31 Dec 2020

2018 ()

(concrete vat/casks) dark, full robe. The bouquet is large, carries a trail of beef stock, elemental depth, prune and black berry fruits deeply inset. It holds up well. The palate gets off to a flying start, holds enjoyable richness, which sustains well, has a fluid run into the finish, with clear tones on the aftertaste. This represents Châteauneuf very well, is vivid, compelling. Its clarity and well-judged filling are on the mark, as is its lissom texture. Black cherry fruit revives on the aftertaste. From mid-2022. 2043-45 Oct 2019

(concrete vat/casks) full, bursting dark red robe. The nose is a solid block of dark berry fruit, holds up well, has a candy, creamy, rolling intensity that is matched by the palate, with a Grenache cooked plums heart and well measured length, the tannins ripe and well encased. The length is good and steady, attractive juice on the wide finale. It’s weighty, but frees itself just before the close. Decanting advised. 15°. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. From spring 2021. 2040-42 Oct 2018

2016 ()

(vat/casks) dark robe, a deep red. The nose has an aroma of brewed fruits, spice, a smoky drift from oak, cooked plums in the picture. The palate is led by its Grenache with its squeezy richness, and carries into a firmer close. It’s low-key today, but has a cosy palate whose roundness and softness will please. The aftertaste is lightly peppery. 14.5°. From mid-2019. 2035-38 Oct 2017

2014 ()

(vat/casks) shiny, inviting dark red robe. The bouquet has a calm presence, with elegant fruit at its heart, more on black than red berries. The ripeness provides a little sweetness. The palate is very tasty, really rocks with bonny fruit, all in step with some tannins that lend it freshness. The attack is delightful. Classy, well balanced wine, good poise and lucidity. The finish introduces some mineral touches. From mid 2017. 2029-31  Oct 2015

2012 ()

(casks) dark robe; sustained depth in the bouquet – this is a well of black cherry, scented prune – it is really deep and suggests the palate will be abundant. The palate is broad, filled; it is centred on a fluid, rich roundness of blackberry fruit with fine tannic spicing. It lengthens on its richness, not its acidity; it is a stately sort of wine, to be served in a large glass with game dishes, venison, daube of beef. It keeps going well, produces perfumed, smoky, tobacco moments. The texture is agreeably smooth. It flirts with fruit bomb status, but ends clearly and can develop its finale. From 2016. 15,000 b, US$36. 2030-32  Nov 2013
