50% Grenache, 45% Syrah, 5% Carignan from S-E facing gypsum, clay Triassic soils at 400 metres, destemmed, 3 week vinification, 2-3 daily pumping overs, part vat emptying/refilling, raised 70% vat, 30% 275-litre oak casks 16-17 months, filtered, “drink with fillet of beef, lamb marinaded with thyme and rosemary”, 4,600 b

dark red robe; the bouquet has reduction, so gives “high” fruit, needs air. There is a pocket of spice, dust in with its sweet raspberry, cooked plum fruit. The palate takes a gourmand approach, bears attractive raspberry and blueberry fruit with smooth tannins wrapped around it. There is a sense of inner strength. This is dense, but keeps moving, ends on meat stock, savoury notes. I might have preferred this with less Syrah, which weighs it down via its extreme ripeness.
