Marsanne, Roussanne from gneiss, granite soils (northern sector), feldspar (southern sector), early morning harvesting, cool 3°-6°C decantation, steel vat vinification at 12°-14°C, steel vat raised 6 months, malo blocked, “drink with scallops in saffron sauce”

2019 ()

fine yellow robe; the bouquet doesn’t hesitate, comes forward on mango, peach, flan, salted notes, carries impetus. The palate celebrates a tropical fruit, buttery ensemble, notes of roasted nuts, has a full centre before a tapering down in the closing stages, where there is a lightly tannic note. There is a thread of carbonic gas through it. This is open, table-friendly St Jo blanc, suited to butter-based dishes; it certainly isn’t coy, Roy. 13.5°. To 2024 Dec 2020

2018

full yellow, a gutsy intro. The bouquet has the ripe roundness of 2018, is buttery, on cooked mandarin/orange, with notes of white raisin, salt flakes. The palate is generous, rolling, flows very well on a kind wave of grapey, slightly tangy fruit and smooth couching. The suave texture is one of its top cards - most pleasing. The finish is well rounded, and satisfying. 13.5°. €23. 2025-26 Nov 2019
