The Wines

Syrah (mid-1970s) from galet stony, alluvial soils at southern end of Mercurol, southern zone, destemmed, cool pre-fermentation maceration, 3 week vinification at up to 28°C, soft pumping overs, malo in new oak, aged 100% 1-year 400-litre oak casks 12 months, unfined, only lightly filtered, first wine 2014

2018

(casks) dark red; the bouquet gives a smiling, sunny opening of black berry fruits, prune, is up front, with no hidden corners. The palate holds layered, rather dense content, black fruits with pushy tannins on board, a relative dryness from them towards the close. It needs considerable further raising to sort out the close. From 2022. 2033-35 Nov 2019

2014 ()

(casks) dark red colour. The nose has a chocolate aspect, a coated black fruits aroma, ripe fruit such as prune present. The palate has a savoury richness, a good roll of richness, ending on that rounded shape, the oak largely inside it. This will please thanks to its sense of fat. The aftertaste is clear. From mid-2017. 2021-22  Oct 2015
