The Wines

Syrah (av age 25 years) from different parts of the appellation, so granite soils (northern sector) & stony alluvial soils (southern sector), destemmed, 10-16 day vinification at up to 27°C, 1-2 daily pumping overs, cool steel vat raised 8 months, unfined, filtered, no SO2 added, 1st wine 2015

2018 ()

(vat) very dark robe; the nose carries youthful exuberance, lines up black cherries, sweet blackberry fruit, sustains well, has violet, floral touches. The palate bears mixed berry fruits, a rolling richness, bright tonality that allows some detail in the fruit, even within a rich canvas. I would bottle this soon. 2022-23 Dec 2018

2017

dark red colour; the nose bears sweet black berry fruits, violet florality, is just short of being plush, shows reduction, needs air. It leaves a sound long trail. The palate is rich in essence, pepper attached to the mixed berry fruits, smokiness on the finish. It carries some 2017 concentration, ends mildly. The fruit is more stewed than fresh, which is not the right way round in my view. 13°. 2021 Dec 2018
