2018 ()

(oak vat) dark red robe; has a cherry stone fruit aroma, raspberry, carries sweetness, curve, will appeal. The palate presents red fruit lozenges, wavy content, the tannins ripe. Aromatic, floral notes run through it, the gras is supple, the close lip smacking. The fruit appeals with its sweet softness, is tasty. There’s a bit of kirsch in the late flavour. It feels a bit low acidity, is a drink early wine. The Volatile Acidity is 0.3 to 0.4 on this. 2025-26 Dec 2018

2017 ()

shiny, full red robe; has a gentle, reserved nose, good spark in its red fruit, ic nice and lucid, clear, up – it’s a good start for the purpose of drinkability. The palate lines up small red fruits acidulés with some brisk tannins, carries toothsome/dentelle virtues, gives clear drinking, ending on a touch of rockiness, vegetal. It’s good off the bat Crozes, suited to grills. Its freshness stands it in good stead, the close salted. It keeps going nicely. 13°. Bottled Oct 2018. From mid-2019. 2025-26 Dec 2018

2016

dark red. There’s reduction, and hence an air of damp black soil, earthiness, on the nose, with crushed blackberry – it’s not especially clear, is brothy. The palate leads on tender black berry fruit, has a simple gourmandise, drinks OK. It is perfectly agreeable, without great attraction, is a safe bet. There is a spot of floral and crunch late on. Steady drinking here. From mid-2018. Decant it. 13°. 66,000 b. 2022-23 Mar 2018

2015 ()

(oak vat/casks) dark red robe. The nose is fat, comes with a pile of red berry fruit and dustiness. The palate is well juiced, and starting to run freely. The fruit is pretty pure. The tannins have a little grain in them. This is a neat Crozes red, drink from mid-2017. 13°. 66,000 b. €16 (2014). 2021-22 Oct 2016

2014 ()

(oak vat) sober dark red robe. The bouquet is broad, has a roasted nature, with a shimmer of black fruit, prune behind that. It is nearly copious. The palate is a gourmand, overt affair, possesses fat and supple tannins. A plump, open Crozes that is easy to appreciate, if a little obvious. 13°. 50,000 b. €19.50. 2013

dark red robe. There is some reduction, a toffee air with mild blackberry behind on the nose, which has a certain serenity. The palate sets off with a nicely crisp run, has the rockiness of the vintage. This bears hedgerow fruit, a note of late tannin. It is mild wine, for grills. The aftertaste is a bit dry, and the finale is rather skinny, austere. 13°. 80,000 b. 2020-21  Oct 2015 Previously Jan 2015 ***(*) dark robe. Grilled, savoury red fruits aroma, a ripe strawberry, the fat side of the garden fruit. There is a careful opening on the palate – the fruit and content are fine more than charged, the tannins quite dainty and smooth. It ends on a mulled fruits note, a savoury aspect there as well. This holds good pedigree content. From spring 2016, and serve in a large glass to release and show it off. 13°. €7.20 export. 2012

dark red, good colour. There is lurking reduction and a meaty angle present on the bouquet with soft floral airs: the nose doesn’t quite chime, drifts a little. The palate is restrained, cautious as it starts, gains some darkness and tar as it goes. It has enough body for meats. Neither the nose nor the palate really strides out. 13°. 2019-20  Oct 2015 Previously Nov 2013 *** (casks/oak vat) shiny, dark robe. Big grilling on the nose – there are oak bars here, an air of pork crackling, a few hidden black fruit torrents. It suggests fat, big black cherries. The palate shows elegant black fruit with a savoury, chicken stock angle. There is a rounded gras richness on the finish. It is rather international and pumped up, which is an obvious concern. 13°. 60,000 b this year. To 2019  Nov 2013

2011 ()

two bottles tasted – the 1st bottle is disagreeable, full of acetate, its balance off, an exaggerated wine. Bottle 2: dark red. Has a strong high tone notion, boiling beef stock and resin – not exactly a straightforward bouquet. The black cherry, cassis fruit comes on the stretch along the palate, as if expanded to breaking point. An uncomfortable ride. There is acetate and interference in its transmission, and is never far from a spirity, eau de vie feel in the black fruit. Try double decanting and leaving for 6 hours. 2010

dark colour; this has a good, broad, promising nose – it holds well established, comfortable black fruit, which is deep and nicely present. The palate bears the black fruit tidily, it expands well, and lasts with pedigree and persistence. There is a flash of licorice on the finish. A complete, balanced Crozes red, has softened its finale in the past 3 months. To 2018  May 2012  Previously Feb 2012 ***(*) purple, dark red robe – pretty. Has a juicy, wavy black fruit aroma that is accompanied by tobacco and black leather airs – a bonny start. This is easy to drink – with a fine fibre of tannin, extending on a grain that resembles earthiness, has hints of violet. There is tight and low-key tar on the finish. This is not yet truly settled – from autumn 2012 for a softer finale. 13°. 2019-20 Feb 2012

2009

dark, really dark red. Oily, black fruits nose – cherry, black olives, earthiness here. It shows some reserve, restraint beyond the fruit. Rolling black fruit on the palate, comes with scented notions, a peony, violet-sweet tea late passage. Lots of wine both on the bouquet and the palate. The finale is broad, it ends clearly, no excess. A gourmand style of Crozes, has gained some volume. 13°. 2019-20 March 2011 Previously Nov 2010 *** (pre-bottling) steady red robe. Strawberry fruit aroma, jam airs in it, offers soft, spiced, floral airs. This is not an alert start, not a breezy CRozes. Sweet, scented red fruits feature on the palate, has a little depth of undertow. All very mild, it is scented all through, has no real stamp about it or distinguishing features. Sun wins over terroir. It gradually tightens at the end, the length is OK. To 2016. Nov 2010
