sound red robe. The nose is nicely aromatic thanks to a sweet air of blueberry fruit, and a nudge of licorice. The palate is also free and easy, with some fine juice and mild tannins. It’s a straightforward, slightly simple Gigondas for early drinking. The length is steady, with a pocket of fine powder tannin as it finishes. This drinks now, though the finish will be a mite smoother by 2018. 15°. 13,300 b. 80% Gren, 15% Syr, 5% Mourv. Bottled 20 Sept 2016. €15 at the cellars. 2022-23 Apr 2017

2014 ()

(concrete vat/large barrel/casks, bottling Feb 2016) shiny full red robe. The nose has a plum fruit, kirsch quality, is scattered with green tea, herbs airs, a dab of licorice. The palate gives black cherry fruit, with smooth tannins inset. The fruit travels well, is pure and enjoyable. The finish is round. 15°. 25,000 b. €27.90. From 2017. 2026-28  Dec 2015

2013

purple-garnet colour. The nose is subdued, with a red fruit and herbes de Provence nuance. This has a sweet fruited attack; it is a little hollow on the mid-palate, then gives a firm, chewy finish, where there is a glow of alcohol as well. This is powerful but a touch rustic. 14.5°. Bottled 20 Nov 2014. 10,400 b. €27.50. From 2016.  2023-24 JL Dec 2014

2011

(oak casks) sound red robe. Has a ripe bouquet that brings forward honey, treacle, prune and date airs. This a robust, ample wine with mature fruit, gummy tannins and a rather rich texture. Vanilla and date show towards the finale. Traditional wine for autumn and winter drinking. It is doing a lot of work early on, is an open book. 15°. From 2014. €14.90 at the cellars. 2020-21  Dec 2012

2010

rather dark robe; the nose is wide, has an imposing style, with garrigue herbs and prune richness present – it gives an early impact. The palate is smoky, with red berry, flint notes, plum flavouring. I cannot dig out a lot from it now, but it has charge and content. The finish is complete, a bit heated, shows a charred note. From 2013. 14.5°. €8.35 export. 2028-29 Dec 2011
