2018 ()

dark red; the bouquet has strength, inner packing based around ripe, streamlined black fruits, simmered in style, on the back cooker. The palate picks up well, glides along with lissom, pure black fruit that has a little flair in its delivery. There are fine powder tannins on the close, so this is well together, shapely Châteauneuf. 15°. 5,000 b. 10% less Grenache, 10% more Syrah this year: 70% Gren, 20% Syr, 10% Cins. €31: fair enough. 2017

(casks) dark red colour; raspberry jam, lamb stock airs, sweet garrigue herbs feature on the nose. The palate bears a good level of red-fruited content with some puckish tannins in behind – they need some refinement. This is a true Grenache wine, with inky, red meats notes, spicing and local drive, menthol and tar moments, on the finish. 15°. 5,000 b. 90% Gren, 10% Syr. €30. From 2021. 2038-40 Oct 2018

2016

(casks) shiny, rather full red robe. The nose releases pure fruit, which is admirable; it centres on raspberry with a darker note of blueberry. It has restraint. The palate is tightly woven around crisp black berry fruits, cassis in the lead, has tangy tannins that bring extra freshness as it ends. This is more subtle than many 2016s, and I appreciate its cool reserve. 15°. 5,000 b. 100% Grenache. All cask raised. €31. From 2020. 2036-39 Oct 2017

2013 ()

(casks/vat) deep purple hue. The nose is reserved, oak just discernable and a nuance of licorice-blackcurrant. The oak is more apparent on the palate, leaves a vanilla edge. Fruit is present, but it is tight and masked by the oak. Just a bit too worked in the cellar. 15°. Harvested 20 October, later than most. Only cuvée made in 2013. 10,000 b.
