full, dark red colour. The nose gives a warm lands aroma, stewed red fruits from the Grenache, a littler sultry date-like presence also, hints of violet/floral, bacon. It’s a rather sturdy start. The palate is filled, solid, broad, the content deep, on black stone fruits. It develops oak-smoke on the second half. There are cool notes in the fruits. This is big wine, for game, red meats. The oak can work its way further inside, so the tarry late moments can be subdued. This has a hand made feel, but the oaking could be less. It’s authentic at its roots, packs a definite punch. 15°. 1,500 b. €27 is high, but it’s good. 2026-27 Sept 2018
