40-50% Grenache blanc, 0-15% Bourboulenc, 40-50% Clairette blanche (1960s-1980s) from gravel, clay-limestone sub soils, galet stones covering, pre-fermentation cooling, 70-75% vat, 25-30% 300-litre oak cask fermented 10 days at 16°-17°C, raised 5-6 months, malo blocked, filtered, “drink as aperitif, or with salads, starters, Asian cuisine, curried gambas, braised tomatoes with goat cheese, cheese such as Pélardon, Comté”, 8-12,000 b

2018 ()

fine yellow robe; the bouquet is filled with sunswept airs, ripe white stone fruits, lacks a little definition, class. The palate holds squeezy matter, ends on a sweet roundness, but is dull. It needs more precision, lift. It’s a country wine to place with country dishes, serve it quite well chilled – otherwise it can be blowzy. 13.5°. 2022-23 May 2019

2017 ()

yellow, firm robe; has a buttery, honeyed aroma, peach stone with citrus touches. It’s a clean start. The palate is medium weighted on the attack, assembles a little roll of gras, comes with nutty fringes, apricot, white plum in the flavour. The length is decent. There are traces of oak on the aftertaste, bringing some grip. It has the virtue of traditional Southern Rhône varieties to underpin its foundation for la table, grilled fish ideal, gambas. It’s rather well made, good for the Co-operative. 13.5°. 12,000 b. €8.10. 50% Gren bl, 50% Clairette. 2020-21 Sept 2018

2016

pale, flinty yellow. The bouquet is rather neutral, gives a faint air of pear, a hint of white plum, a note of licorice. There is a steely debut to the palate, which is also low-ley in expression. There is a small pocket of late freshness. The content is mild, and it has a little grip. It’s OK for the aperitif, since it’s pretty clean, is a wine for early drinking. It lacks assertion in its flavour, is correct but escapist – hence the aperitif. There is a touch of orange zest on the aftertaste. 13.5°. To 2019 Aug 2017

2012 ()

bright, pale yellow. There is light reduction in the nose – pear-apricot, lemon airs here, some richness in it along with plum such as greengage. There is honey on a fat start to the palate, with buttery notes along the finish. The fruit checks out, tones down a bit early. Drtink with foods such as hors d’oeuvres. A simple, low acidity, early wine that is safe, but doesn’t go further than that. 13.5°.  To 2015. May 2013

2010

pale yellow; cooked pear, cooked apple, nicely ripe nose that has a curvy welcome, shows a herb, fennel side as well. Supple start to the palate – this is fleshy before some tightening happens, while the finale is delicate, the length holds up. It delivers fine juice on the finish, is very drinkable, a nicely made wine. 14°. To 2014 July 2011

2008

very pale colour; baked white fruit, brioche, notable airs of honey in a rounded bouquet, touches of vanilla also. The palate is better balanced than most Lirac 2008s: there is a baked white fruit taste, with nougat and almond in the flavour adding interest and bite. The length is OK, and there is good continuity of freshness. Can serve both for aperitif and foods, summer foods. Well judged wine, nothing too ambitious. 12.5°.
