The Wines

a vineyard selection wine, aged 30-35% new, 65-70% 1-2 year oak casks 22 months, 12,000 b

dark, oily aspect. Pepper, prominent licorice aroma, hickory smoke and a hint of green pepper. The bouquet also shows a low-key mineral-stone dust backdrop, small notes of thyme and rosemary. This is an oily, rich start. The palate is well-textured, even silken – this flows along the palate well. There is a bright, fulsome black cherry, small berry flavour. The wine is round and plump, its depth genuine. There are notes of violet and tannins that have good thrust. It lengthens well, is drinking well now, towards the end of its first stage of life. Lots oa open appeal. 14.5°. To 2020-21 July 2012 Previously Oct 2009 ***** (casks, to be bottled in 1 month) big robe; wide, consistent nose, has good fruit lying in it, and a touch of the baked stones, a nutty influence. Juicy, elegant and round fruit on the palate, which runs free and breezily, ending in a grainy, fine moment where there is blackberry fruit that persists. More serene than the 2007, has a fine delivery of tannin. 2018-19 Oct 2009

attractive, bright robe, mixes purple and black. Reticent, currently upright nose – shows mild tar, chocolate, blackcurrant within, and a suggestion of licorice and violet. Interesting, graceful blackberry fruit with a steady line of mineral tannin that finales in a correct, fresh end. The fruit simmers away on the aftertaste. There is almost schist clarity at moments in this. 14.5°. 2020-21 Oct 2009 A$60
