The Wines

2009

full, dark robe; there are light floral notes in the tight black cherry aroma, comes with licorice – this is a clean, clear, neat bouquet. The palate starts on grainy, slightly mineral-flecked black fruit. It ends tightly, is a precise wine. There is a little give in its texture – it is indeed tasty at its centre, has a black cherry liqueur flavour, is really easy to like, nice and long, flows well. Air brings forward violet in the flavour, and 90 minutes releases more sweet and obvious weight, as it declares its ripe origins more assertively. Good length. In a Rhône comparison, it sits as if it were from the south of the Northern Rhône through its spread of sweet touches, but also has Northern Rhône finesse attributes such as flowers and mineral tints. 2019-20  April 2012
