The Wines

late 1960s Grenache from Tatty Road block, simple crush, natural open ferment, aged French oak casks 16 months, lightly fined, filtered

2008 ()

thick, deep and dark red robe that has coated aspect. The nose is big and broad, a crushed pebble, dusty top with a spear of loganberry, dark berry within, licorice alongside it. There is a broad unfurling of black berry flavour along the palate, with a prominent line of minted, licorice tannin through it. It ends on still young power. Has a slight menthol, bright cassis note towards the finish, where it steals away into the night. Good, honest wine, delivers a good mouthful, has clarity within its evident power. Open half an hour before drinking. Works well on its youthful vigour, is open and willing, persistent. 14.5°. To 2015. Oct 2009 in GB the 2007 £12.61 Noel Young, 2006 £11.75 Hailsham Cellars
