The Wines

1950s Shiraz from Pattriti Vineyard, 4,200-6,000 b

2004 ()

full, dark, purple-tinted robe, brighter than the McLaren Flat Shiraz which is more matt, a subdued plum. Breeze of fruit on the nose – small berries with a free air, are nicely ripe, and there is a touch of peat in the background, a good underpin. There is a good, stylish roll of fruit on the palate, comes with a squeezy texture, elegant generosity. The black fruit is nicely seasoned, has a depth of ripe tannin around it. Very easy to like, is good now. A late licorice tang is the prelude to a hint that its second stage is dawning, percolated coffee takes up the finale. Quite a lot of cards on the table. 2018-20 Oct 2009
