70% Adelaide Hills, 30% McLaren Vale (75% Montpellier, 25% Château-Grillet clones used, most planted 1997-98), fermented 7 year and older oak casks, raised 7 months, lees not stirred (“confuses the wine”)

vigorous nose, shapely also – butter, gently curved in shape, toast from its oaking. The palate has mineral tangs as it starts, the sides are sealed tight, shows a little tannin late on. Has a good chew about it, structure at the end. Bit closed now. Decant this. “More oak than I would like – it has come through recently,” Chester Osborn. 13.5°. To 2012-13 Oct 2009
