50% Grenache, 50% Syrah (both 1960s) from stony clay-limestone soils, destemmed, 15 day vinification, pumping overs only, oak, vat raised 12 months, unfiltered

2009 ()

modest, quite dark red. Gamey airs, with “high” fruit, sweetness, licorice – the bouquet could have more spring in its step. The palate delivers black jam (Syrah influence), black olives on its debut, is a little on the dry side. There is quiet berry fruit at the end, extreme later cropping influences. This craves food – needs dishes to soften its finish. 14°. 2016 April 2011


quite a dark red. Rather full-on, bulky bouquet with an inlay of ripe, chocolate aromas: the non-Grenache varieties (tasted blind) lend snap and pepper to this charged start. The palate is fenced in, rather dry. Struggles to show established richness or content, is puffing away on the ledge. A beefed-up wine that is oaked rather hard. From mid-2010. 2014-16 Feb 2009
