80% Grenache, 20% Syrah (both 1960s), destemmed, 10 day vinification, pumping overs only, vat raised 12 months, unfiltered

2007 ()

full, abundant robe; has a soaked, almost pongy or high nose – it is reductive and plump, offers raspberry – needs decanting. There is a sweet, not quite true note to the palate red fruit, which lacks cut and drive, is stationary. Red mulled fruits feature on the later stages. There is depth in this, but the overall take is slow-moving, More freshness preferred. Tasted blind – when I see who it is, I find it a pity that they style has changed away from slow maturing wines into these puppy fat offerings. 14°. 2013-14 Feb 2009


still sound red robe. Grainy, smoky nose that offers mature black fruits, a light aroma of baked cake, has a dry imprint. The palate is dry-textured, a little on the stretch. The flavour is a scented garrigue, herbs in it, plus a licorice lacing. Still fresh, so it is not declining, is just a bit cussed. Still going, far from being on the wane. Decant, and certainly allow it access to cool room temperature for a day-plus before opening. To 2014. Sept 2009
