dark robe; the nose bears a mild, restrained air of mulberry fruit with inner sweetness. It holds up well, has definite reserves. The palate holds dark, savoury fruit content, prune in the flavour, has squeezy tannins that aid its late depth. The aftertaste is a touch tarry. It can fuse together, comes with good potential. From 2021. 2037-39 Oct 2018

2016 ()

(vat/casks, bottling May 2018) sober dark red hue. There is a free air of cherry fruit, soaked cherries (griottes) on the nose, with barbecue smoke, tar notions, olives, too. It’s a broad and deep start, something of a man mountain. The palate carries the same signature, is voluminous, coated, savoury, with rosemary, and roast meats signals, plum fruits towards the finish. The tannins could be a little more streamlined, and there are dry notes as it ends. There is a lot here, and it needs until 2020 to start to show coherence. It will give plenty in an honest way. 14.5°. 11,600 b. 60% Gren, 15% Syr, 15% Mourv, 7% Cins, 3% Muscardin. €28. 2034-37 Oct 2017

2015 ()

(vat/casks) dark robe. Has a rather plush, soaked fruits such as blackberry aroma, with plums and a deeply set floral influence. There is a light chocolate-mocha tone. Blueberry and loganberry fruit combine on the attack; this is amply juiced, coated in texture, combines flowers and pepper. The finish is rounded, polished. There is some power within. It has a plush nature, and is a bit static as a style of wine. From 2019. 2032-35 Oct 2016

2014

red robe. Has a brambly fruit air, red fruit lozenges and their sweetness, cooked raspberry and some sweet spice on the nose. This is gentle, suavely textured, en rondeur Châteauneuf. It is a sweet orb, and could come with more of a dance in its step. It ends on mocha, black raisin. Ripe fruit has been favoured over freshness. 2024-27 Oct 2016

2013

full, quite dark red colour. The nose involves blackberry lozenges with a bit of mineral, prune and a musky tone, a light sense of flowers. The palate is also coated, suave like the other vintages, fat and plump. Again, ripeness is high on the agenda in the styling. The close is tarry, bears suave and gummy tannins, the length fair. The aftertaste is a bit dry. 2027-29 Oct 2016

2012 ()

(bottling soon) dark red; high, big time game air, suggests Mourvèdre, shows grunt and fundamental aspects, is very roasted, has blackberry fruit within. The palate is so raw that this is hard to judge. Wild, unbridled wine – here comes the wild boar. It mixes resin, some Brett, possible question of its raising. The end is solid, is all “meat n’potatoes”; I can sense some good, thick, old Grenache juice deep inside. Decant this. From 2016. 13,000 b, €22. 2027-30  Nov 2013
