The Wines

Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault from red stony sandy-clay soils, hand harvested, destemmed, 3 week vinification, pumping overs, some cap punching, steel vat raised 18 months, unfined, filtered, 4,000 b

attractive dark red with a purple tone; the bouquet swims with engaging black cherry fruit, is up and open, touches off licorice and dried herbs in attendance. The fruit aroma lingers. The palate sequels well, bears tasty, slightly salted dark cherry fruit with a good sense of rhythm in its delivery. This has captured the openly fruited side of the vintage well, and is drinking with gusto already. The tannins are crisp, in tune with the overall feel. There is a local note of black olives on the aftertaste. It will be great with a rib of beef. This is w.o.w. Cairanne, up for a good time with friends; the Syrah-Cinsault combo have given it freedom. 14°. 4,000 b. €12.30 at the cellars. 2025-26 Sept 2020

2017 ()

(steel vat) dark red hue; crushed nutshells, green olives form the lead on the nose, where the fruit is in the second rank, a hint of red berry. It’s discreetly stylish. The palate is also well measured, flows truly, with a gentle caress of plum, mulberry fruit and a comfy set of tannins towards the finish. This will give easy drinking. The fruit is lucid, the aftertaste rounded - although there’s a little fade there. 13.8°. €12.30. From mid-2020. 2032-34 Mar 2019
