2018

dark red, mauve tints; the bouquet offers an immediate swirl of black cherry fruit, a pronounced, rather sweet Syrah influence. There are grilled, lightly salted edges. It’s a solid start. The palate picks up well on the clearly fruited theme, is tasty and easy to drink, with a sprinkle of dried herbs and grainy tannins on the finish, which brings an agreeable shift in texture, and helps its drinking. This has good heart, lingers with fluid intent, is w.o.w. Rasteau. It favours fruit and the here and now over long-term cards. 15°. €14.50 at the cellars. 2025-26 Oct 2020

2014

dark, full robe. Blackberry fruit of some generosity shows on the nose, a little elderberry cordial. The palate is sweet and savoury, in a fat style. Its plumpness is just about channelled into clear late moments. The tannins are still evident and rocky, so leave until spring 2018. A gourmand Rasteau, not sure how much of a bottle I could drink. 15°. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. 2,500 b. 2023-24 May 2016
