2018 ()

(fibre glass vat/casks) full, handsome dark red robe. The bouquet carries potential, since it’s well together, based on rather stylish prune fruit, a dimple of accuracy in it. The palate engages immediately, with a swish run of black fruits, likeable energy in the delivery. The finish is long, well extended, with a commendable lift of menthol on the aftertaste. Good Gigondas character here, the Real Thing, lovely menthol within. 15°. 3,320 b. 80% Gren, 20% Mourv. €16 at cellars. From 2023-24. 2044-46 Feb 2020

(fibre glass vat/casks) dark red colour; the nose has a loose aroma of mixed berries, raspberry with red cherry. There’s a husky note lurking, a hint of baking. The palate starts on a creamy blackberry fruit roll, is sweet on the inside, carries fleshy content, takes in a savoury aspect before the finish. I find this a little gloopy, lacking in cut, which renders it not easy to drink freely: sips not draughts of it. 15°. 80% Gren, 20% Mourv. From 2021. 2032-34 Oct 2018

dark red robe with a lighter top. The nose is closely packed with black fruit such as blackberry, doesn’t give much away for now. There is a light sweetness. The palate holds well modelled gras content with the tannins flexible, gummy, adding some late weight. The aftertaste is peppered. This has a good foundation, base of sealed matter. There are decent style, clarity and truth, the cool features on the second half genuine. It needs decanting, possibly could have been bottled in another six months [bottled June 2016], and is best left until 2019. There is a little late palate glow. 15°. 1,300 b. 80% Gren, 20% Mourv. €16. 2029-30 Feb 2017
