very dark robe, black tints throughout. The bouquet gives a charge of Southern ripeness, replete with damp, soaked notes. There is a note of chocolate, cocoa. The palate bears fleshy, rich content, holds exuberant black cherry fruit, with the juice lasting well into the finish. The tannins are ripe, nicely active, give extra thrust on the nicely long close. €13 at the cellars is sound VALUE. From 2022. 2033-35 Nov 2019
dark colour, black present. The nose is a chocolate box thanks to its oaking, has a steady interior of black berry fruit. The palate garners a suave content, presents cassis fruit with fat attached, the tannins ripe. Its oak surfaces a touch on a charcoal-smoke aftertaste. It’s a touch on the technical, arm’s length side, but can fuse and provide sound drinking. 13.5°. From mid-2020. It is bottled already. 2029-30 Dec 2018
dark red robe, purple rim. Black cherries, oak lead the nose, the oak prominent. The palate has a cool tenor, its black fruits running clearly and smoothly, the tannins nicely ripe and inside. This gives a sound glass of St Jo, with immediate fruit. The aftertaste is rounded, tidy. Can be drunk now. 13.5°. 70,000 b. 2021-22 Nov 2017
black robe, thorough hue. Mildly fruited nose – a little snap of pistachio nuts, red fruits and reduction in the air. The palate starts with fenced in red fruits that are on a narrow, edgy track. Late on the fruit eases, and shows a gummy, red pastille side. Not in harmony as yet. To 2011. Dec 2007
spicy, peppery nose; chewy, structure with the fruit. Mature flavour. To 2005-06.
