The Wines

100% Syrah (2014) from 0.25 hectare on schist soils at Seyssuel, destemmed, wild yeasts, 3 week steel vat vinification, pumping overs, 80% vat, 20% used 228-litre oak cask raised 12 months, unfined, filtered, 900 b

very dark; the nose is intense, centred on blackberry, with an undertow of violet, licorice, mulberry, lead pencil notes – variety and detail both feature. The palate serves a good wave of cassis fruit, black fruits, plenty of juice running through it, is well-channelled, has a beau droiteur, straight line of delivery, with fine, ripe tannins, and inky-iron notes. It has the structure of a serious wine, is another good example of Seyssuel. 13°. From 2021. 2035-37 Dec 2019
