The Wines

Viognier (2001) from deep gneiss soils on Carret at Sarras, steel vat fermented at 15°-18°C, lees stirred daily during vinification, raised 6 months, malo blocked, filtered, first year 2016, “drink as aperitif”, 1,500 b

steady yellow robe, rather ripe in aspect. The bouquet is subdued, not giving a lot, has a flan, custard air, a note of white raisin, is dense more than fresh. It holds steadily. The palate continues the theme of understated expression, has a little gras couch that sustains into the rounded finish, with apricot in the flavour. It keeps going well, so is suited to sauced dishes, and white meats, firm cheese. It’s a coherent Viognier that drinks on the money now. 14°. To spring 2021. June 2020
