(casks/vat) dark robe, black with a crimson rim. The bouquet is careful, square, has a meaty, chocolatey depth, shows tea leaves, a little vegetal note above its blackberry coulis fruit. The palate builds in density and firmness as it goes, with a gunflint clack of mineral on the slightly oaked close. These are still very raw goods. It is grounded, sealed wine with time allowing a trip to Charm School, loosening it beneficially. There’s plenty in the glass. The aftertaste has glow, some intrinsic power. It has the makings of a filled, firm glass of St Jo. 13°. From 2021. 2035-37 Dec 2018
