2018 ()

(casks) very dark robe; the nose delivers inky blueberry fruit, a note of iodine off the seashore and a trim floral air. It’s an attractive debut. The palate is graceful, balanced, leads on stylish black fruited content with pretty tannins that contribute a bonny savoury presence. This sings well, is a more Burgundian, restrained St Jo than many this year – which is just the year for that approach. It’s a stimulating accumulation of fine detail, a pointilliste wine, the fruit purity noticeable. There is oak on the aftertaste, so allow a little time - from late-2020. 13.5°. 1,000 b. €28. 2035-37 Nov 2019
