pale red robe; the bouquet doesn’t hesitate, brims with a copious aroma of red berry, strawberry fruit, is well layered, carries nice, sure depth. There’s a hint of reduction, so allow it to breathe. The palate is well lined with supple, rolling red-fruited content, has a firm gourmandise, ends in lip smacking, almost munchy fashion. This is bang on for Mediterranean dishes and cuisine, can pair well with bold flavours, garlic and spices. It gives instant appeal, is genuine Tavel, its heart on its sleeve. 14.5°. immediately attractive, bright, full red robe. This is going to be good – I just know, after 45 years, one does! The nose has more to give, is filled with a good depth of red fruits, has a sultry, southern take within, rays of sunshine in the picture. The palate sequels well, moves effortlessly with rich, tasty, fluid content, baskets of red fruits, berries. High quality fruit, high quality Tavel here, a wine of dimension and great appeal, STGT goes boom. Multiple food options, with all full dishes such as paella, couscous, Szechuan, noble fish on the agenda. 14°. To 2022 May 2019

2017

rockabilly authentic Tavel colour, deep red cherry, magenta. There’s good substance on the bouquet, which has a fat, near oily depth, ripe mixed red fruits, a touch of reduction, liqueur style depth in it. it’s broad, holds up well. The palate gives bonny waves of plum, cherry, red stone fruit with an intense core to it that lasts into a prolonged aftertaste. Very much table wine, for boldly flavoured dishes, white meats, pork would be ace. This is structured, genuine Tavel, no sell-out to Provence, is full of flavour and carry. It has character, carries its heart on its sleeve, doesn’t hold back. Good with lamb tajine, Asiatic, N African cuisine, couscous dishes. 13.5°. To 2021 Sept 2018

2016

lively red-tinted robe, very Tavel. The nose has a confident sweetness of strawberry and redcurrant fruit, all in a curvy shape, nice and pure it is. The palate delivers a firm red cherry flavour with a note of nougat. There is an inner sense of degree/power as it moves along. It’s solid on the finish, with a cherry stone insistence there, a redoubtable surge. There is a low-level sweetness through it, and it risks being rather clumsy. Drink with salmon, tuna, full flavours. 14°. 20,600 b. €5.60 export. 2019-20 July 2017
