Grenache, Cinsault from galet stone soils, new 600-litre oak cask fermented, raised 9 months, tall, clear bottle

2016 ()

(casks) fine red robe. The oak brings a layer of toffee to the aroma, backed by crushed strawberry, a sweet centre, cherry liqueur. This is distinct from other Tavel 2016s through a fine concentration of red fruit flanked by a sweet caramel or toffee-like cushion. It works on a patiné, smooth texture, the length aided by its oak. It is something of an acquired taste; I would drink it with sauced white meats, veal, for example, mushroom dishes. There is a sweet style here, just a bit sticky. 14.5°. 2021-22 June 2017
