2016

(concrete vat) dark red colour. The bouquet is brewed, dumb, has a notion of entrails, a meatiness in its core. The palate sets off on savoury, rolling content with cherry fruit to the fore, before the arrival of some slightly pinched tannins that render the close on the dry side. Integration is the question here; at least it’s not yet bottled, so has the benefit of some doubt. The very cold day (minus 2°C) may also be driving it underground. 2015 ()

(concrete vat, bottling March 2017) quite a dark red robe. The nose presents a lucid air of berry fruit with a smoky outer note, a little raspberry density at its centre, and a hum of rose flowers. The palate is spiced, free flowing, bears rocky textured content with grain in the tannins. This has captured the essence of warm, stony soils. There is a pocket of smooth red-fruited gras just before the tannic sign-off, so leave this until spring 2019. It’s still rather rugged. 2027-29 Feb 2017 Previously July 2016 **** (vat, bottling March 2017) full, dark red robe. The aroma is attractive, leads on blackberry fruit, is round and stylish, also shows soaked black cherries. The palate links closely to the nose, holds squeezy, supple black fruits with good, continuous flow. The attack sets off on blueberry fruit with a cool thread in it. Its tannins fit like a glove, just show tar insistence on the end. The balance is good, so this can be drunk young. €5.60 export. From 2018. 2027-28 July 2016

2014 ()

plum-coloured robe. Attractive, open, nicely varied bouquet, with airs of smoked bacon, soft and sweet spice, a little floral-geranium angle, licorice. This drinks serenely, and is getting en route, holds supple, mild and squeezy content, a flavour of cooked plum. It drinks pretty well, its tannins rounded. It lacks the flair encountered seven months ago, pre-bottling. 13.5°. From Oct 2016. 2021-22 July 2016 Previously Dec 2015 ****(*) (vat, bottling Feb 2016) dark red colour. Mulberry fruit with some freedom starts the bouquet, which holds up well, has the potential to develop and vary. Its low-key sweetness is appealing. The palate starts on a bright, direct line of cassis fruit, blueberry present, and kicks on towards a fresh, slightly menthol-influenced close. Plenty of vim here – it is a wine with the cool tones of 2014 well captured. The fruit is great, right on the button. Very joli freshness on the finish is one of its high cards. 13.5°. 12,000 b. €12 = VALUE. From spring 2017. 2023-25  Dec 2015 

2013 ()

purple robe. The nose gives spice, red berry fruit. The palate is firm and fleshy, with black olive, berry and garrigue notes. There is layered fruit, with freshness on the finish. This holds firm but fine tannins, and definitely has substance. 13.5°. €12, very fair. Bottled 11 Dec 2014. 8,200 b. From 2016. 2021-22  JL Dec 2014
