quite a full red; the nose speaks of the south with a black raisin, prune air, underlying sweetness, a note of baking. The palate is rather clipped, holds smoky dark content, with edge in the tannins, and a note of glow-power on the aftertaste. It lacks cohesion from its elements, and, like me, is a bit skinny. 15°. 76% Gren, 24% Syr. €17 at cellars. From 2021. 2029-31 Feb 2020

attractive, shiny dark red. The nose is very reduced, but beyond that “high”, earthy aspect lies sound purity of raspberry, red berry fruit, some herbes de Provence. The palate holds good quality fruit that races around freely at first, has spicing and good cut. This is clear Gigondas that drinks well, with good, steady length. Decanting a must, and another nine to 12 months will also help. 14.5°. 75% Gren, 25% Syr. From mid-2019. 2032-34 Oct 2018

dark red colour with a sheen. Reduction lurks on the nose, so there is damp soil, “high” fruit, the fruit resembling black cherry. The palate is a gourmand, open affair, holds red fruits, a raspberry flavour with a late crunch from its tannins. There is a liqueur style to the fruit, denoting inner power, and that concerns me. 15°. 60,000 b. €15-20. From late-2018. 2028-29 Oct 2017
