from decomposed granite, schist slope soils at Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf, destemmed, 3 week vinification, part vat emptying/refilling, pumping overs then cap punching, aged 30% new, 70% 1-5 year 228-litre oak casks 10 months, fined, rarely filtered (was in 2007), 5-7,000 b


(casks) fair, slightly sombre quite dark red colour. There is a northern zone air of pepper across the nose – it is very snappy, even angular, the fruit low-key, possible suggestion of young vines. The palate gives a red jam fruit flavour with peppery, oaked sides all through it. In a raw state now, and not wholly in synchronisation. The exit is rather edgy, the fruit loosens there. dark robe; spice and pepper first air, real smoky snap in its blueberry fruit, a tang. The fruit is ripe, the bouquet broad, and it rocks along. The palate is a little scaled up, but there is vigour on the black fruit that bears marked oak within its oiliness. The cellar is on top for now. Modern style. The juice keeps going well. Lots going on here. Tasted blind, a new domaine. From mid-2014. 12.5°. 35 hl/ha yield this year.  2022-23  Nov 2011
