medium depth red robe. Has a green pepper, rather vegetal air, a notable amount of grilling. The palate also gives this grilled aspect like pork crackling. Peppery, supple black berry fruit lies within, and there is a note of licorice as it ends. It drinks easily solo. 12°. To 2017  Jan 2015


sober, quite dark red. Dusty trail aroma, a little bit of black berry jam. The palate gives a mix of supple black fruit and flower touches. The last stages are grainy, show more pepper. OK, but fails to capture the imagination. Many domaine IGPs are way better, deeper and more interesting. 12°. To 2016  Nov 2013

2011 ()

red robe, some darkness. Spice features in its air of blackberry fruit, then a note of licorice and light dustiness appears, which fits in. The palate rolls along well, has a free run of blackberry fruit, with tar-licorice bolstering it. A skimmer more than a profound wine. The finale is clear, so drink solo. To 2016.  Nov 2012


plum red; spiced, pretty broad aroma, gives prune and full plum fruit, a slight streakiness. The palate has a grainy flavour, infused with licorice, and a toasted, charry inlay. Has a geranium-cinnamon exit – it is crunchy without big depth to help it. The main impression is black pepper. Hasn’t developed as hoped. 12.5°. To 2015.  Nov 2012  Previously Nov 2011 *** (vat) the robe has dark patches in its red; this has a floral, scented nose with a good, rounded fruit in support, splashes of licorice. The palate starts roundly, and keeps rolling on that wave. It is fleshy, fruited and more ample than many vins de pays. The aftertaste is of blackberry, accompanied by gummy, round tannins. It finishes on aromatic notes. I like its length – enjoyable wine. From mid-2012.  To 2016  Nov 2011

2009 ()

dark robe, a black intensity at its core. Tar-black coffee top aroma – the nose is filled with fairly sweet black fruit, prune airs, gamey also – gives plenty. Soupy, stewed black fruits that are mulled in style on the palate. Food best because of its sweetness. It shows a little extra tar and grip at the end, with coffee notes on the aftertaste. Here and now drinking, has fair length. 12.5°. To 2013. Nov 2010


dark plum colour; pepper-spice start to the nose, black jam behind that. Palate: minted black fruit with a sweet, slightly perfumato note about it. Fair length. A bit tarty, but OK, slight vegetal note in this. Also the feel of a lot of cellar intervention. 12.5°. To 2011. Nov 2009

2007 ()

full, bright, dark robe. Raisin, nutty nose – rather good density, prune, light floral airs. Rather volatile on the palate – the fruit is flat, lacks brio. Tapers, but drinks OK now. 12.5°. Nov 2009
