100% Syrah from stony clay-limestone soils, hand harvested, destemmed, 4-5 week steel vat vinification, wild yeasts, very soft pumping overs, part vat emptying/refilling, aged 50% new, 50% 4-year 400-litre oak casks 18 months, fined, filtered, 10-12,000 b


clear red/purple robe. Has a coolly fruited aroma, cherry and cherry stone, a light floral note. This provides very clear, very clean drinking, with a pick-up of pepper. fairly dark red robe. There is light reduction in the nose, which shows raspberry and cherry, also licoirce – it is a lifted start. This bears pure fruit, with no make-up, holds live tannins that row in the same direction, and that little spur of gras richness softens the texture. It delivers black pepper on the finish, is good and fresh. Clear, fragrant wine with character. Allow it to breathe. 13°. “We had hail in July; I lost 20%,” Charles Helfenbein. 2019-20  Apr 2015


good, bright robe of black and purple. Interesting, good and full nose – shapely, bonny black fruit with licorice. The palate combines well with the nose – this has definite promise, is scented, comes with light floral notes. Good, clear, w.o.w. drinking. Has character, its balance is good. Makes a big first impression from a new domaine. 13°. To 2016. March 2011
