The Wines

50-60% Grenache blanc (1980), 40-50% Clairette blanche (1980) from clay-limestone soils, destemmed, steel vat fermented at 16-18°C, raised 6 months, malo blocked, “drink with omelette and cèpes wild mushrooms, veal sautéd with girolles wild mushrooms, mushroom tart, tripe, blanquette of veal, tête de veal, eels, fish soup”, organic, biodynamic wine, 3,000-5,300 b

clear, lustrous yellow robe; the bouquet appeals via a variety of prompts, peach, salting, butter, ginger snap. The palate has a sure depth, present well on the attack with enjoyable, unrestrained gras richness, followed by a good tangy finale, spearmint cut there. This carries saline notes that keep its freshness, with the suave, savoury note late on appealing. It’s a very good, authentic and natural Vin de France, one that drinks well, and has enough body for cheese, the mushroom dishes recommended, also poultry. 13°. 2023-24 Jan 2021
