2016 ()

(cask) dark red colour. The nose has a plump air, not up with the class of the best, leads on a smoke-oak tinged blackberry, hedge row fruiting. The palate holds medium weight, smoky, tangy red fruit content with the oak and tannin duo a little coarse. The aftertaste is on a little juice and the charcoal of the oak. It’s a pretty basic Hermitage red. 13.5°. From late 2019. 2028-29 Nov 2017

2015 ()

(cask, bottling Jan 2017) dark red colour. The nose is manly, has a good heartbeat, toffee in with shapely dark red fruits, suave and fine in style, blood and flowers, graphite, mint. It is a very good mixture, variety of prompts. The attack is serene and suave; there is lovely juice which gushes and washes well with textured, smooth tannins around it. The stylish gras sits very well. It is coherent, consecutive, is going the right way. Finesse and suave content walk hand in hand. From 2020. 2032-34 Oct 2016


dark red. Bovril, Marmite, oxtail show in a deep bouquet that has a beef inkiness. The palate is sturdy, still tightening, gives a gasping thrust. It is very good with roast veal. Red fruits, soaked red cherries – griottes – lie at its centre. There is heat on the finish, funnily enough. 13°. 2027-28 Oct 2016


dark red robe. The nose has a little air of damp woods, red meat, with a fine airborne blackberry fruit – it combines depth and grace. This is expressive, right away, presents a sunny wine with attractive tannins really well lined inside. Elegance is uppermost here. Tannins and oak lie more out on their own on the finish. This has a smooth texture and stylish gras in tandem. Stylish, en finesse wine with floral moments. There is a touch of late kick. From 2018. 13°. 2028-30   Oct 2015


dark red robe with a slightly light top rim. Red meat, grilling, red berries, raspberry, mulberry, flowers, some cassis all mingle on the nose. The palate has strength from within, lines up dark red berry fruit with some fresh, tenacious tannins. It closes with confirmed gras. I find it in a holding moment between first youth and its second stage. It will be brilliant with a rib of beef. The grain in the tannins is tight, firm. 12.5°. From 2019. 2031-34  Oct 2015


red, black traces; lead pencil shavings, hay, green influences – this is not currently a fruit-forward wine, shows just a little smoky black fruit. The palate is also reserved, possesses a good grain and fine, quality fruit which is clear late on and has a classy light touch. The oak is finely ingrained, is a contributor. Has the finesse of fine Hermitage, is not a wine of depth, and could be accused of being a little thin. Can lose some of its oak tar as it ages. 12.5°. From mid-2011. 2018-19 Dec 2009

2004 ()

direct, pushed along bouquet, varnish in with black fruits, some pepper and a latent earthiness. Clean- textured palate, is a little spotless. Black fruit, licorice, oak mix on finish. Modern style, the palate feel is oaked and a bit dry now, but has blackcurrant fruit within. Too much cellar pushing here. From 2009. 2018-21 April 2006

2002 ()

some black fruit, smoky/leather side to dumb bouquet. Dark red fruit, some oak staining, gives a varnish effect. Quite a lot of end tannin, pepper/licorice too. Can meld together. 2010-12
