(casks) deep robe. The nose gives a sleek, refined air of black cherry fruit that appeals via its precision. There is light oaking. The oak is more prominent on the palate, where the black fruit retains a neat, stylish nature. This is polished, very modern Crozes, all very trim. It floats along well. From late 2017 – oak infusion is required. 2023-24 Oct 2016


dark robe. The nose gives a broad sweep of aroma, a hillock of ripe fruit, sunshine in its depth, black fruit jam, is well packed. This has a sturdy, rather free debut, its heart is rich. It lengthens with clarity gaining over its route. A serious wine for la table. There are floral notes well within it, both on the nose and the palate. 14.5°. 2020-21 Nov 2013

2009 ()

good full robe; has an oily air, shows ripe fruit such as blackberry, with licorice. The palate has an oily, suave, smoked nature. There is a lining of 2009 tannins that provide grip and tension. The finish delivers charcoal and tar – not surprising given its 20 months in cask, and some late signs of richness. Not a style I would plump for,since it is rather contrived. “Good to drink with pigeon or red meats not too cooked,” Gilles Robin. 2018-19 Feb 2012

2005 ()

creamy, full black fruits nose, has olives, Provençal tendencies, some earthy, damp forest input. The palate is similar – a creamy texture, the fruit blackberry – a fest of small berries that have been simmered. There is a little late crack of reality, away from this wonderland, as some tannins appear and give it more grip, rather like the Panto baddies. With its sweet tone, this is near being a Vaucluse child, from further south. The air brings extra tannin and licorice at the end. The sweetness will appeal to a wide audience, and is not excessive. 14.5° - very high for Crozes. 2017-18 Dec 2008
